Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. Mitchell graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing in New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located within Washington DC. She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the show. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debate with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She reported on a variety of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also visited extensively along with the president Reagan to summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
